8th September vs Stanton Harcourt (home) won by 44 runs.

Winning the toss and batting first against ten man Stanton Harcourt Nick Solway and Finbar ( pictured below) made steady progress before  Nick got a touch on one and was caught behind for 19. Fin and Phil never looked back! taking advantage of Stantons one man deficit in the field and some pedestrian bowling both brought up centuries in good time strangely both ending up on 112 ( Phil out, Finbar not out). Westcott ended up on 286-3 after small contributions from JB & Dale ( and despite JB’s idea to declare). After tea Westcott started in great  fashion dismissing their opener for zero in the first over caught by Nick at cover, however after that some poor bowling coupled with some aggressive batting saw Harcourt pile on the runs. After drinks a change in strategy was needed and the slower bowling of Gary and the skipper began to change things. Once the Stanton wickets began to fall Westcott were in a much more comfortable position with the opposition falling behind the required run rate. The Game ended with JB bowling the final Stanton batsman for a duck and Westcott finishing with a 44 run win. The captain (pictured below) ending up with 5 for 35 and a league title to lift at the leagues end of season dinner!  Much Dark fruits was drunk and chips eaten that night in celebration…Can i please express my thanks to all of you that played for the club this season- we have always been competitive throughout the season whilst also bringing through some promising young players into the team. Next year will see us playing in a higher division and i know we will definitely be up for the challenge!    See you at the end of season dinner and hopefully some of you at the league dinner too.
