Westcott vs Thame 4ths- 10th July, 20/20 game -Westcott won.

Westcott entertained Thame town for the first time in many years on a lovely bright evening. Opting to bat first Thame looked to put pressure on the Westcott bowlers, Stanley having his first bowl for some time however took two wickets in the opening over. Rotation of bowlers from the other end ensured that runs were flowing and  the scoreboard kept ticking. Ludlem for Thame scored runs at a very quick pace, if only he could of kept the pace up between each ball we wouldn’t have still been playing at 9pm. The breakthrough could not be made until the ‘old’ head of Pete (the thin one) came on and removed Ludlem who appeared to be the main run threat. The odd wicket continued to fall and Thame ended their mammoth innings on 137 at 7.40pm

The reply by Mikey and Stuart started ok until Mikey missed a straight one ( only as good as your last innings Mikey). Stuart was joined by Stanley and that was that, a couple of chances were offered and not taken and the game was finished eventually at 9pm with 4 overs remaining. Stuart and Stanley both finishing unbeaten with 50+ to their names, valuable time out in the middle for both of them.

We look forward to the return fixture on the 17th and we will be taking our head torches.
