Westcott vs Marsh Gibbon 7th July 2018-Lost by 71 runs
England quarter-final sun is shining everyone wants to watch the game… well apparently not, hence start time of 1.30pm and a 45 over game to be had. Marsh won the toss and put Westcott into the field, with a determination to get the game over quickly Westcott were soon within the wickets. There was the odd pocket of resistance especially from Sam Richardson who scored 60, this innings helped Marsh reach 147 all out. Rehman (below) taking 5 wickets was the outstanding bowler of the day, surely this was a score we could chase down. However an early wicket looked to check those thoughts but a swift partnership from Paul Cherry and Alimar looked promising. Quick wickets soon dispelled any idea of a comeback though, a lack of application and common sense saw wickets tumble quicker than Neymar. As is the way when things are not going well decisions did not seem to go our way either and Westcott were embarrassingly dismissed for 77.
Quite rightly a post-mortem was held at the end of the game with senior and younger players all accepting that it was just not good enough on the day. With the return match the following day we all hoped that the message was received and understood.
