8th July 2018 -vs Marsh Gibbon (away) – Lost by 20 runs.
After the dismal batting performance of the previous day’s loss to the same opponents the question was did Westcott have the Character to produce an improved display against their local rivals and gain some much needed pride. Although with Westcott not at full strength and Marsh introducing a couple of NEW faces into their side things did not look hopeful. The away side bowled well and but for a couple of crucial dropped catches that enabled an 80 run partnership for Marsh a good effort was made in the field. 205 was a tough ask but on a top wicket and fast outfield Westcott showed some mettle and with an 85 run partnership between Strong & Raynor Westcott gave themselves a chance. Sadly with Raynor out and Strong running out of partners we finished 20 short. A much improved effort and with two youngsters bowling the last 13 overs of the Marsh innings some pride was at least restored.
