Saturday 5th May saw the perfect start to the season for the seconds with 30 points collected from their opening game against Charlbury CC. Having won the toss Lewis decided to ask Charlbury to Bat first in  unseasonably  hot early season weather, in the scorching sunshine wickets fell steadily throughout the innings with 2 wickets apiece for James Bateman (2-16), Tom Young (2-11) and Saghir Hussain (2-6). However special mention must go to Giles Burkitt on his bowling debut with the 13 year old taking 3-23 from his 8 overs. In reply Charlbury never looked like getting back into the game with steady batting from the Westcott opening batsmen Nick Solway (above) with 35 not out & the returning Pete Smith with 39 not out guiding Westcott to victory inside 16 overs.

A good start to the season for the 2nd’s with Lewis asking for more of the same please next week away at Chipping Norton.
