July 14th vs Oxenford (home) – Won by 73 runs.

After winning the toss on a typical Westcott batting track skipper Lewis opened up with Phil and Mikey. Facing a team in good form the captain was expecting a strong bowling line up however the slow stuff which opened up left the openers frustrated. After a slow start the pace picked up when the quicker change bowlers came on, with a good opening partnership ending when Mikey was out for 36, Phil kept on going but was then out whilst trying to clear the boundary unaware that he was on 96! Quick runs from Nick Raynor (29) and Saghir (16) saw Westcott post a good 213-8.After tea Oxenford started well but good bowling from Westcott kept things tight. Oxenfords number 4 was starting to look very comfortable at the crease and looked like possibly chasing down the total, however with support at the other end not being quite as good Westcott were able to open up an end  with two wickets apiece for JB & Saghir and one for Stan. Oxenfords innings was ended quickly when the skipper (above) brought himself on to bowl claiming 4-10 off 5 overs to end Oxenford’s innings on 140 all out- a comfortable win in the end.

Now 2nd in the table its time to keep the promotion push going next week at home vs Chipping Norton, looking to avenge the result from the last time we played them.
